READING BY 3RD GRADE

 
Outcomes
  • The percentage of students in our third grade cohort who pass the Grade 3 Reading SOL will increase by 5 percentage points (raw data) from spring 2024 to spring 2025.
    *Raw data - 84% spring 2024 will increase to 89% in spring 2025
  • The percentage of students in grade K-3 meeting or exceeding the VALLS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025. 
Strategies 
  • Use embedded formative assessments in the new core curriculum to guide tier 1 and tier 2 instructional decisions.
  • Leverage use of daily, explicit language comprehension lessons from the new core curriculum for building knowledge and vocabulary.
  • Increase intentional use of multisensory, visual, verbal, written and/or interactive scaffolds and supports in whole group settings.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATH

 
Outcomes
  • The percentage of students in grades 4-6 who take the MCA will increase by 5 percentage points (raw data) from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025.
  • The percentage of students in grades 1-6 taking the MCA will increase by 5 percentage points from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025. 
  • The percentage of students in grade K taking the VKRP will increase by 5 percentage points from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025. 
Strategies 
  • Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.
  • Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.
  • Improve systems for communicating with families about math course pathways through 12th grade.

PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE

 
Outcomes
  • Each quarter students will have opportunities to conduct reflections and curate evidence overtime in connection to a POG attribute. 
Strategies 
  • Select a POG skill from the vertical articulation charts (Resource 1) to focus on with students and explicitly teach the skill; if at an IB school, select an ATL skill from the IB & POG Crosswalk (Resource 2) to focus on with students and explicitly teach the skill.
  • Dedicate time for regular student reflection (Resource 1; Resource 2 for IB Schools) - such as turn and talks, quick writes, or silent thinking to self - to process the POG/ATL skills they utilized during meaningful learning experiences and consider how they can continue to grow.
  • Utilize POG Reflection Cards (Resource 1) and Sentence Strips for Reflection (Resource 2) to create opportunities for students to reflect on growth in POG skills; if at an IB school, utilize ATL Reflection Cards and ATL Sentence Strips for Reflection (Resource 3).

SCIENCE

 
Outcomes
  • By June 2025, 94% of all 5th grade students will score pass or passed advanced on the Science SOL.
Strategies 
  • Increase frequency of student learning experiences that are inquiry-based and hands-on.
  • Increase content and/or pedagogy knowledge in science for all teachers (advanced, general, ESOL, special education).
  • Expand opportunities to meaningfully integrate science within and across content areas to include literacy skills, mathematical reasoning, and global context.
