English Language Arts 

Outcome: Ensure that students are reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.

Goal: By May 2024, grades 1-3 will demonstrate a 5% increase as measured by the iReady diagnostic results. By May 2024, Kindergarten will demonstrate a 1% increase as measured by the PALS diagnostic results

Strategy 1: Increase use of data (e.g., iReady, CORE, PASS, PRF, WIDA) to plan instruction and monitor progress for students demonstrating risk. (HLP 2-5)

Strategy 2: Improve use of interactive read alouds for building knowledge and vocabulary through texts that affirm students' lived experiences. (HLP 1, 3)

Strategy 3: Improve daily, systematic, explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, and morphology in the core language arts block. (HLP 2)

Mathematics 

Outcome: Ensure student growth and performance on state/national/international assessments in math.

Goal: By May 2024, 90% of students will meet the math spring benchmark on iReady/EMAS. By May 2024, 97% of students in grades 3-6 will pass or pass advance on the spring math SOL.

Strategy 1: Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.

Strategy 2: Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

Strategy 3: Use conversation structures to increase academic talk between students.

Portrait of the Graduate (POG)

Outcome: Ensure students will demonstrate growth with evidence in at least one self-identified Portrait of the Graduate skills. 

Goal: By May 2024, 80% of all students will be able to identify and explain the importance of a POG attribute.

Strategy 1: Teachers will discuss and apply POG skills that will coincide with their instruction.

Strategy 2: Teachers will build comprehension to implement POG skills in-depth for students.

Strategy 3: Students will have opportunities to reflect on their learning of POG skills.
